OM repeater activated on ARRIS

A cross-band FM amateur radio repeater with a downlink on the International Space Statio has been activated 437.800 MHz.

The ARISS team announces that the configuration and installation of the first element of the new generation radio system has been completed and amateur radio operations are underway. This first element, denominato InterOperable Radio System (IORS), it was installed in the module of the Columbus International Space Station.

The IORS replaces the Ericsson radio system and package module originally certified for spaceflight on 26 July 2000.

Initial operation of the new radio system is in FM crossband repeater mode using an uplink frequency of 145,990 MHz with an access tone [CTCSS] of 67 Hz and a downlink frequency of 437,800 MHz. The activation of the system was observed for the first time at 01:02 UTC del 2 September.
